Scotland and Romania

So here I am, writing a little bit to people who may want to know what I’ve been up to. Well, besides the usual studio abuse I’ve got going on, I’ve been finishing up a couple of remixes for some of my people’s music, as well as some for new believers in house music “a la Sneak”. I have a few unexpected remixes I’m very excited about … DJ A-Trak & Laidback Luke’s “Shake it down” and Loco Dice’s Pimp Jackson’s Tracks. I feel I’ve done a great job at giving them that Sneak funk ‘n’ rhythm that I bring to every remix I do. You must get you hands on them soon cause they’re HOTT!
I’ve also had the chance to get out and play some amazing gigs lately! I want to give many thanks to all the fans that come out and support House Music across the globe … this is proof that there is hope in the world for House Music!
Let’s start off with “Telefunken” in Edinburgh Scotland, what a party my friends! After reading reviews and hearing from people on myspace, I knew I was in for a long night and that the people were in for a musical treat. This was one of the smaller venues I’ve played lately but let me tell you, these people have a lot of heart, they’ve waited 5 to 6 years for my return to Edinburgh an the Party was everything I expected and then some!! As promised, I delivered a musical beat down with a great selection of some of the best records from as far back as 1995. I went back and forward till the lights came on and even after a few encore tracks I couldn’t get enough and Edinburgh couldn’t either! I really want to thank Alan Gray and all the people that came out and danced their butts off to some good old house music.
I ended up recording the set and I’d like to share it with the first 200 that hit this link to download it … enjoy! I hope to come back soon for another session. Respect to Edinburgh.

Moving on to the rest of this mad weekend. After the Scotland beat down, I flew thru Copenhagen where I had 2 of them delicious Danish Hot Dogs while making my connection to get to Bucharest Romania. I was booked to play one of the best beach festival going on in this country, SUNWAVES, now in its 4th year. I also played this festival last year around the same time but this year was very special to me. When I arrived in Bucharest, we had to get to Mamaia where the party was at. I want to send shout outs to Mistress Barbara and Bill Patrick who ended up ruffin’ it with me on the drive to Mamaia.
Later that night, I rolled into the event around 1am, the party was rocking with 3 areas on the beach overlooking the Black Sea, what a sight! Anyway, I ended up jumping right into my first set of the night, I played like I usually do, Chicago Styles all around! Right after my set, Ricardo Villalobos was getting ready to follow my lead to keep the Romanians dancing until the early morning hour. Then the most incredible thing happened, the promoter and a friend, Catalin, asked if it would be possible that Ricardo and I play music together for the next few hours, so WE DID!!! The DJ SET was one of the most unbelievable musical blends of 2 of the best in their styles of music. Ricardo and I absolutely took over … we were on the completely same vibe and we ended up complimenting each other’s styles of music. At the end of it all, we had so much fun playing that we decided to play for 4 more hours! We played into the early morning, I ended up closing the tent with some endless Sneaky Sounds until the event shut down at like 10 am!! WOA! That was crazy NICE!!!! Much respect and love to all the fans that were there until the end. All I can say is that Romania is DOPE!
Even though it was early morning, the party continued next door at this shack on the beach where there was another sound system going for the DAY TIME AFTER HOUR. Oh yeah, they kept dancing all day! I had to take a nap before I returned later for the early night set. I think I played for like 6 hours before I had enough for the night! Crazy people were still asking me for more but I had plans the next morning so I had to get some shuteye.
The next day, my friend Catalin reserved these joint boathouse style boats pulled by a smaller boat to go thru a place called the Danube Delta! OMG! This was one of the best trips I’ve been on in a while! Catalin invited like 40 or so of his closest friends, as well as Ricardo and I, to sail thru this amazing AMAZON like place in Romania. From the moment we took off the Music went on and it did NOT stop until we returned the next day! There were some of Romania’s best local DJS playing music all day while cruising thru this paradise. We finally stopped and roped the boats to a tree and then partied all the way thru the night, everybody there seemed like they were experiencing some sort of “once in a life time” gathering in the middle of frikkin’ NOWHERE! The music went on and on and before the late night came I played another 4 hours on the boat. I’m telling you, it was a Sneak Beats Marathon, but the setting was so perfect and with no people, police, aliens, or anything to disturb this private little jam, we partied thru the morning before heading back and playing’ music all the way till the end! Romanians are lovely people, very warm, very knowledgeable about dance music and their musical taste … well let’s just say they know what’s up!!! Again Many, Many thanks to everybody on the boat cruise, I feel like I made some solid cool friendships that night for sure. Shouts to Ricardo, Bill Patrick, Raresh and all the boys that rocked the Boat! I’m looking forward to next year’s Adventures in Romania!
I hope you enjoy the pictures and videos of the parties I’ve been talking about. I also recorded the after hour set in Romania, it’s a long one, but I cut it up and have it for downloads by following the links below. First come, first served! It’s limited downloads so hurry up and get it!!
